RPSF is an organization built on the expertise of communications and public relations professionals. Volunteer engagement can take several forms whether through our matching program as an “expert volunteer,” individually or as part of a team. Regardless of how you choose to get involved, all volunteers must meet RPSF’s requirements to ensure every assignment runs as smoothly as possible.

Partner organizations with a formal agreement with RPSF may also submit assignments, which will then be matched accordingly.

Finally, RPSF occasionally develops projects with funders, enabling the organization to carry out initiatives alongside its international cooperation partners.

Become an Expert Volunteer

Commitment

For those who wish to get involved as expert volunteers, this means sharing their expertise, passing on their knowledge, and contributing their professional know-how. These volunteers are driven by a desire to put their specific skills and professional experience to work in a meaningful way through their volunteer engagement.

Why Become an Expert Volunteer?

  • To share your expertise while supporting, coaching, and guiding an organization through its communications challenges.
  • To explore new experiences and expand your knowledge in a fresh, stimulating environment.
  • To amplify the impact of communications and public relations where it’s needed most.

Have questions?

1. Membership

  • Read the Code of Ethics.
  • Complete the expert volunteer application form and agree to the required legal consents.
  • Attach your résumé directly to the form.

Prior to your match, you will be required to complete a training session provided by RPSF.

2. Matching

The matching and support process pairs an expert volunteer (individual or team)* with an assignment and ensures its successful completion.

* Individual Expert Volunteer: A communications professional identified by RPSF to carry out the assignment.
Team Expert Volunteer: A group of communications professionals identified by RPSF to carry out the assignment.

3. Support & Evaluation

Throughout the assignment, RPSF will support both the organization’s designated contacts and the expert volunteer, remaining available to answer any questions or address any challenges that may arise.

All parties work together to carry out the support project.

  • If needed, the coordinator acts as a resource person.
Based on the agreed-upon timeline, the coordinator schedules a check-in meeting with each party, a virtual meeting lasting 30 to 60 minutes, guided by a standard agenda.

  • If needed, the coordinator schedules a second meeting and follows up on any outstanding requests by email.
At the end of the assignment, the services coordinator sends a end-of-assignment evaluation to both the expert volunteer and the organization’s manager in order to:

  • Ensure the quality of support provided by RPSF.
  • Measure participant satisfaction.
  • Improve the process where needed.
